Shaft Shark Installation
SHAFT SHARK - Installation Instructions:
The Shaft Shark should be installed with the labeled “AFT” side facing aft. This ensures that the cutting blade side faces foward. It will be mounted flush up against the propeller hub on the fixed diameter of the shaft.
The split models (#300, #400 , #500, #600, #700 & Saildrive units), do not require the removal of the propeller prior to installation. It is kept securely in place by the clamp action of the two allen-head bolts. It is advisable to use Vibra-Tite VC-3 (supplied with each unit), or Loctite on the two bolts.
Separate the two halvesof the Shaft Shark. Re-position them around the shaft, up against the forward edge of the propeller hub, and tighten in place with the two bolts.
All single piece models will require removal of the propeller for installation.
Remove the propeller. Slide the Shaft Shark onto the shaft. Re-install the propeller. Position the Shaft Shark up against the forward edge of the propeller hub and tighten the set screws. It is advised to use Vibra-Tie VC-3, Loctite or similar on the bolts when installing the units
Some installations may require a small dimple of the shaft itself.
Note: In each installation it is advisable to use loctite or similar on the bolts/set screws. For underwater installations we have found that Vibra-tite VC-3 is a most effective product. Each Shaft Shark will include a small packet of Vibra-Tite for installation purposes be it on land or underwater. Simply follow the instructions supplied.
