Pitch Control Units

Pitch control units, which are installed aft of a standard reduction gearbox, control the pitch of the blades of a variable pitch propeller.

The first units manufactured by Hundested in 1929 included a mechanical hand driven wheel that changed the blade pitch.

Hundested produces two types of pitch control units – fully reversible electrically activated (FR-ELC) and fully reversable hydraulically activated (FR-HP).  The pitch can move all the way from astern and fully reverse to sailing position or full forward.

Hundested can also supply a system (FR-HFC) with an O.D. box built on to an existing reduction gearbox without built in pitch control.  Hundested pitch control units are installed on superyachts as well as fishing vessels and ferries.
