What should I know about Thread Locking Glue, such as Locktite?

Thread locking glue is used to install a propeller, zinc anodes or a Shaft Shark underwater.
Loctite or any Locking Glue must be applied to a clean dry surface as per their instructions.
Loctite 248, a medium strength Threadlocker Stick, can be used under water. It is in a lipstick type dispenser. Apply the 248 to clean dry threads out of the water and make sure the wax based product is pushed into all of the threads with no air gaps before taking the fastener below the water. Allow 24 hours for full cure after install of the fastener.
Vibra-Tite VC-3 is applied to the fastener threads prior to installation, let dry for 10-30 minutes depending on part size, and when dry, fastener is ready for install or later use below water.
Bondchem WT03 Thread Locker liquid glue (GORI) Loctite Blue 243 liquid (or Red) cannot be used under water – the glue will wash off. They cure anaerobically.
Regular thread locking glue applied to the thread in air and allowed to cure before the screw is mounted under water will not adhere either. There will be no adhesion between the fastener and the hole thread.
