Italian superyacht builder, Mylius has released two new additions to its range of carbon fiber racer cruisers, a 76 footer and an updated version of their original 60 footer, first released in 2013. Like all other yachts offered by Mylius, the new boats will be outfitted with GORI propellers.

The range of yachts offered by Mylius span from 50-80 feet. Aesthetically, the boats are known for their blend of modern sleekness and traditional design elements. By coupling the crisp design and open ergonomic layout with the lightweight carbon hull and sprawling upwind sail plan, Mylius has come up with a versatile design which is both enjoyable to sail and high performance. The carbon fiber construction provides a stiff and impressively light hull. Weighing in at 17 and 20 tonnes respectively, the Mylius 60 and 72 are considerably lighter than any other boats in their classes, allowing for excellent speed and ultra responsive, turn on a dime handling. Since the boats are built at the Rega yard in Poland and outfitted at the Mylius headquarters in Podenzano Italy, Mylius able to deliver a high performance boat at an economical price compared to other high end manufacturers such as Swan.

In order to capitalize fully on the high octane design, both new Mylius yachts are fitted with ultra low drag GORI folding propellers. The 76 features a 25”, four blade propellor while the 60 is equipped with a 24”, 3 blade Gori. The Gori is an obvious choice given the high degree of attention to performance and handling the designers put in to the boat. When racing, the propellers create close to zero newtons drag, allowing for additional boat speed and improved handling and upwind performance resulting from cleaner flow over the foils.

The GORI is an especially appropriate choice to push the Mylius yachts given their consideration to cruising in addition to performance minded sailing. Due to the GORI’s ability to adjust pitch, the propellor is able to deliver far more drive under power than standard folding propellers. Additionally this feature also allows the GORI to deliver full power in reverse, a feature that is sure to come in handy for docking and mooring.
