Hi Brendan and Kelly!
I just wanted to offer a progress report on the prop you spec’d for my unusual boat:
I couldn’t be happier or more delighted.
In normal forward pitch the engine comes to the 3000-rpm limit in flat water, but not easily, and I like that!
In overdrive in flat water the engine comes against the governor at a touch over 2200-rpm, and it’s pushing the boat slightly over hullspeed and the stern squats!
Backing off to 2000 I’m still seeing 7.6+ kts burning 1.4-gal/hr. That’s amazing efficiency.
Backing off to 1800-rpm and 7.4-kts average. We’re seeing 1.1-gph fuel burn.
At all speeds and even in reverse, it’s much smoother and way quieter than the Max! My wife and I can calmly converse with each other while anchoring or docking.
These impressions were collected while making the 1,000 NM trip from Juneau Alaska to Anacortes WA plus a lap around the San Juan islands in the past month, almost all of it motoring or very occasionally motor-sailing.
The only thing that I should have expected but still surprised me, was that in back-and-fill maneuvering while docking, each time you go from reverse (with weigh on going astern) and back into forward the prop is in overdrive and really makes the boat jump!
Got used to that quickly tho. And while there is some prop-walk to port (right handed) it’s less than most, and easily compensated for.
All for now…
