GORI Race Propeller Has Zero Drag

The GORI race 2-blade folding propeller is the ultimate propeller for the Grand Prix racing sailboat and serious club racer.

The specialized Race design blades have zero drag. German sailing magazine “Segeln” tested propeller drag at the German Naval Architecture Test Center in Potsdam and results show the GORI Race propeller had the lowest drag.

All propellers were tested on a Saildrive. Results show the GORI Race propeller had the lowest drag of all – Zero 0 – it could not be measured.

GORI Race – 0 Newton
Maxprop 2-blade – 2.0 N
Std GORI 2-blade – 2.2 N
Flexifold 2-blade – 3.1 N
Varifold 2-blade – 3.1 N
Variprop2-blade – 7.0 N
Volvo 2-blade – 9.7 N
Fixed 2-blade – 99.9 N held / 198.7 N free rotating

*Feathering prop tests were set up with unrealistic aligning of a blade “hidden” behind the Saildrive leg.

GORI’s reputation on the race course is well known and fully documented.

GORI is used extensively at the professional racing level, competed in and has won events like the TP52 MedCup Series, Admirals Cup, Key West, Race Week, all the International level races such as Newport-Bermuda, Transpac, Sydney-Hobart, Vendee Global Challenge, Whitbread Round the World, and TransAtlantic /Round the world record breaking attempts.

Gori Propeller Race
No other 2-blade folding propeller has as low a drag coefficient as the GORI racing propeller.

Its zero drag is due to the blades elliptical shape, matched together with no gap, along with the smallest tapered geared hub size on the market. Most importantly, performance when motoring is not compromised – the GORI race propeller has a high BAR (blade area ratio) ensuring maximum efficiency and with the shaped true profile blades (camber & curve) gives increased thrust (efficiency) and power over a greater RPMrange.
