Cutlass Bearing Wear

Cutlass bearing wear can allow the shaft to ‘climb’, or rotate up, in the cutlass bearing.  With an increase in RPM the shaft may rotate as much as 90 degrees (climb from 10 o’clock and then settle back to the 7-8 o’clock spot) once the boat reaches its new speed. This can cause vibration with the change of blade loading.
